Home Defeat

A first half that was difficult to explain sealed the defeat early on: the Lilies' home game against FC Augsburg ended with 0:6 (0:5). A very bitter afternoon in the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor.

The worst possible start occurred with the visitors taking the lead after only 2 minutes. A mistake in defence was seized upon by the guests and Tietz was able to finish. A minute later and action swung to the other end of the field and Tim Skarke had the opportunity to equalise but he was denied. The visitors then had the next opportunity but Tietz was unable to add to his tally. Darmstadt struggled to get a foothold in the game and went further behind on 12 minutes when Jensen was able to finish coolly past Marcel Schuhen.

The Lilies continued to shoot themselves in the foot and a back pass that was played too short, allowed Demirovic to make it 3-0 in the 20th minute. More goals were added through Vargas on 24 minutes and Demirovic added a second in the 29th minute.

The closest that Darmstadt came to finding the back of the net in the first didn’t arrive until just before the interval with Andreas Müller in the 44th minute and Sebastian Polter in the 45th minute but neither caused any real concern.

The second half certainly began in a more calmer fashion but Augsburg still remained the more dangerous side. Luca Pfeiffer had the next opportunity for the home side but his header was plucked out of the air by the goalkeeper.

There was very little to mention in the remainder of the game, Fabio Torsiello came close to grabbing his first Bundesliga goal for the club but it was cleared in the 83rd minute. However, Tietz added his second goal in the 84th minute making it 0-6 to complete a thoroughly miserable day for the Lilies

A complete success: 5th tree planting campaign by SV 98 and Krombacher

Working together for nature conservation: For the fifth time, SV Darmstadt 98 and premium partner Krombacher organized a reforestation campaign as part of the "Under the Sign of the Lily" initiative. Last Sunday (March 15), around 60 Darmstadt fans traveled by bus from Darmstadt to participate in the planting project in a wooded area in the municipality of Kleinwallstadt, in the district of Hausen. Supported by Darmstadt professional Grayson Dettoni, the volunteers planted approximately 3,500 young trees. Local experts provided the necessary equipment, while the Krombacher Brewery catered for the participants.
